About
Felted Jewelry
Felted beads
are hand rolled, by a process called felting. 100% wool fiber is
manipulated by hand with hot soapy water. By rolling and squeezing
out the water, and then continuously rinsing and rolling again,
a firm ball is finally formed. This ball is a uniform belted bead
which is then dried and used for my jewelry creations. Sometimes
I hand
sew little glass seed beads to the felted beads before I string
them up into jewelry.
It's not unusual
for a little fuzz strand to stick out from the felted beads. It's
part of the look! However, if there is a fuzz strand that is bothersome,
it's easy enough to snip it off with scissors.
It's best not
to get felted jewelry wet, as it may alter the shape, or weaken
the threads used for sewing glass seed beads.
Felted jewelry
is unique, funky and best of all VERY comfortable to wear, as it's
soft and lightweight. It's a joy to wear this unique type of jewelry,
and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
